Glute Lunge / Level 1 Variation
With Pole for support
Great for starting to move Level 1 clients from floor to carriage. Pole provides support, and then challenge when they feel ready.
Set Up
Box beside carriage, top edge in line with carriage.
Blue Spring for support. White spring for challenge. Stand on box first, facing foot bar Outside box foot will be in the top inside corner. Inside foot will be against shoulder blocks. Pole is on platform in front.
Layer 1 / Base Lunge
Glide carriage away, coming into a lunge shape, knee over heel. Pole supports balance, keep fingers light. Dig in front heel to return to standing. Try to keep the back leg straight.
Progression If balance is good, while carriage is closed, pick up pole, and lift with outstretched arms as you press carriage away.
Layer 2 / Add a scooter
Hold lunge at the bottom, drag back leg in closing springs, press carriage out opening springs. Dig in through heel and return to standing.
Layer 3 / Stay in the scooters
Hold down in lunge, and keep body and hips still as you scooter the carriage in and out.
Finisher / Hold
Press out to hold, and try and sink a little deeper, keep back straight.
To dismount. Close springs first. Come to stand onto box. Dismount to floor.
